Dear Pringle Parents,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 School year! This will certainly be a memorable one!
I want to make sure that the information you are getting is detailed. Please take a few moments to read this. I cannot guarantee that it will not change, but we think this is fairly firm. We know that it is very frustrating for you to either hear conflicting information or not enough information. We have had to make even more changes due to the fires and poor air quality. Of course, everyone’s physical safety and health is our primary concern.
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions:
Is school in person or online?
School will start online for every Pringle student. Our “comprehensive distance learning” or CDL program, will also start online. In the CDL program, students will have online contact with their teacher every day Tuesday through Friday using Zoom to connect. Later in the year, if the virus numbers are low enough to allow, CDL students may return to a “blended model” where students will be in school two days and at home two days by “cohort.” For now, everyone is online. We will take our guidance from the Oregon Health Authority as to when CDL can go to a blended model. Of course, the EDGE program will be online for the entire school year, as designed.
When is the first day that we need to log on for CDL ?
Note: These dates have changed from original plans due to the fires as well as adding a week to assess and orient Kindergarten students and families.
CDL for 1st through 5th grades begins Wednesday, September 16th for a soft start day to practice access, meet the class, go over expectations. The regular schedule will start the next day, September 17th.
CDL for Kindergarten begins Tuesday, September 22nd for a soft start day to practice access, meet the class, go over expectations, etc. The regular schedule will start the next day, September 23rd.
EDGE families, these dates should be the same for the EDGE program.
When will I pick up stuff from last year and get things for this year?
This has changed a couple of times due to unsafe air quality. Thank you for your patience! We hope that this can be the safe, final plan. Warning, it gets a little complicated, so read carefully!
If you DO NOT already have a Chromebook and you need one AND you are entering 1st-5th grade, you can come by school on Tuesday, September 15th to check out a Chromebook and get your things. Please arrive between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM and expect to wait outside and physically distance while your students things are gathered for you by office staff.
For students who already have a Chromebook entering 1st through 6th grade (our last year’s fifth graders) you come during the following times on Wednesday, September 16th from 12:00-2:30 students with last names beginning with A through L and 3:30-6:00 for students with last names beginning M-Z. You will be directed to the back or front based upon last name. You will receive your supplies and last year’s things.
What about Kindergarten?
All entering Kindergarten students will get their Chromebooks and supplies at their scheduled assessment/orientation time on one of the following days: Sept. 17, 18 or 21. Your teacher will schedule a 30-40 minute session with you and your child to come to the school on one of those days. We will do a quick assessment with your student, give your supplies, ensure that you can use the Chromebook that will be checked out to you, and, of course, welcome you! Physical distancing rules apply and we are asking kids and parents to wear face coverings for the protection of everyone. Thank you.
Will lunch be available like in the spring?
Yes! Unlike spring, you can come to Pringle. We are offering free “grab and go” lunches between 11 and 1 every day from the front of Pringle. It is free for all students. Please come on by and use this service.
If I need help, who do I call?
Your best contact will always be your child’s teacher and/or the office. Do not hesitate to reach out for anything we can help you with. We know how difficult this time is for parents and how challenging distance learning can be. Let us try and assist you as best we can!
Panthers, we can do this. Thank you for being such supporters of your student and our school. It is an honor to be a part of this school community!
